Some are predicting major disasters, upheaval, and death in 2012. Surely you jest! There is no death for soul. You flounder within this imagined darkness and try to draw others into your fear. Behold your true spiritual nature, and bask in the brilliance of love’s flame glowing forever in your heart.

Mark Nykanen wrote a new blog post: Drought in Mexico Hits Millions 5 hours, 46 minutes ago · View
A Mexican official calls it the worst drought Mexico has ever endured. Two million people do not have access to water and must rely on emergency services. The drought has been cruelly compounded by bitterly cold weather. The extreme weather has slammed rural towns in 19 of Mexico’s 31 states, with no relief likely until [...]

I’ve looked into it, Jim, and tracked El Writo to Nanoose Bay on the island. He’s not worth much more time than that.

I don’t know how else to put it, at least at this point. Across the U.S. Tea Partiers and fellow travelers are working themselves into a fresh froth over state and local attempts to control sprawl and conserve energy. Perish the thought! If you have your feet firmly planted on planet Earth, you might wonder [...]

You’d have much to lose by using your real name? Are you applying for a job at Inthekoots? If that’s not the case, all you risk is people seeing what your character is really like. If you have something to contribute to the issue of poor pay for journalists or the future of the industry, [...]

Chris Shepherd wrote a new blog post: How to easily add events to your own calendar 1 day, 22 hours ago · View
The great thing – okay one of the great things – is the ability to subscribe to another calendar. To subscribe means to set up a system that automatically updates your own calendar. Once done, you don’t have to look after it, the system looks after it for you. Here’s a video explaining how it [...]

Sarcasm from an anonymous writer. If you don’t have the courage to put your name to your opinion, especially when attacking me, it means nothing.

Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary (Nelson) posted an update: 2 days, 2 hours ago · View
The Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1931 with a goal to help with patient comforts and equipment for the Nelson Hospital. Presently the Auxiliary has about 70 members who are dedicated volunteers working to raise money for hospital equipment and patient comforts.
We run the well-stocked gift shop at the hospital, take care of the TV rentals, operate the cash machine, provide books for visitors and patients, take care of the gardens and planters, decorate the hospital for special holidays and conduct raffles and bake sales.
In 2011 alone, the Nelson Chapter of the KL Hospital Auxiliary donated $39,000 to the Hospital Foundation for equipment purchases. Over the years, the Auxiliary has also purchased many furnishings for various hospital departments, such as palliative care, maternity and lounge areas.
We are always looking for new members and if you have time to dedicate and are interested, please call Caroline Hopwood at 250-352-7170.
Our current executive is:
President Ruth Hufty
1st Vice-Pres Mary Nishio
2nd Vice-Pres Caroline Hopwood
Secretary June Simard
Treasurer Anne Secord
Asst Treasurer Hilka VesterbackOur next bake sale is February 10th at 11:00 am in the Hospital gift shop. Come and get your Valentine a treat and help support the Hospital Auxiliary in their activities.
